Interview with Dennis Rears

Running Page is pleased to announce we will be interviewing Dennis Rears about the history of the Internet's oldest running website.  Dennis started the RunningPage.com in 1992 and will share with us the evolution of this historical website.  Dennis is not only an avid runner that can provide history about running on the net, but he can talk about the growth of the Internet as he was using the net long before any of us knew it existed.  Now today, there are thousands of running websites on the Internet that came long after the running page.  We'll here first hand from Dennis who the founding fathers were as it relates to Internet running sites.

Dennis will share his running hotlists from way back.  For those that are not familiar with hotlists, its what we call favorites or bookmarks today.  We'll also find out what marathons were actively using the Internet for promotion back then and really see how the great sport of marathon running has evolved to what it is today.

We'll find out what his favorite races were and learn about some older running events that have been canceled due to lack of funding. What it was like managing the Internet's first running directory and how many emails he used to receive from runners and race directors all around the world.  This will be a great source of information for anybody that wants to learn about the history of running websites and how the running community grew on the Internet.  The modern day bloggers will enjoy this interview with Dennis.  Special thanks to a great Internet visionary.
