Running Blogs

Running is a sport that lends itself to blogging.  Runners have a lingo that is ideal for the Internet blogosphere.  Talk about your "negative splits" "PR" " Snot Rockets"  and day-to-day training through a running blog is a soothing way to talk about your favorite hobby.  Think about it, you walk into the local coffee shop with your Marathon finisher medal hanging around your neck and the cashier asks you about it, you say " I just finished a marathon" and they say " how far was your marathon? " and you realize that its only runners that really appreciate a running blog written by a dedicated and passionate runner.  You speak the same language and can relate to each others successes and challenges and support each other along the journey of personal achievement in the wonderful sport of running.  The barrier to entry in minimal and the rewards are incredible. Only a runner would understand chip time over gun time, some couch potatoes hearing this on a Sunday would think it means watching football on the couch eating chips, a runner knows different, the elite runners competing for the checks understand "gun time"  a running blogger knows the difference.  Non runners think TNT is dynamite, runners know TNT is Team in Training,  non runners think PR is public relations, runners know a PR is 'personal record' .  A porta potty is seen as dirty to the average person, to a runner can be seen as an oasis on a long run day or marathon with a bad case of .....   Garmin to a non runner is a way to get around town in the car, Garmin to a runner is a techy tool that allows you to track your enture running life.  Blog about your traning run so the world of runners can hear about the 5 am alarm, the dog that chased you down at mile 10 of your run and the sub 7 minute mile pace you maintained.  Only a runner will get excited for you.  5k, 10k, half are all a marathon to the non-runner.   Blog about your ice bath and most will think you are crazy, a runner will understand the sort mucles after completig a marathon.

As a running blogger have you encountered the anti-runner?  The one who says marathons are bad because people die of heart attacks, not that people are in better shape because of running and prevent heart attacks.  That running is bad for the joints, well ... that may be true you, never you long time cyclists turning to running at age 50 because there knees are bad  but you do hear of runners turned cyclists because of running injuries, lets keep this as our secret.    Non runners think of DQ runners writing running blogs talk about BQ times.  Are you a running blogger with a blog to share with the community of runners that will appreciate the special language only runners will understand?

Send an email to runningpage at gmail dot com and we will link your running blog, of course we will ask for a reciprocal link to runningpage.  Happy blogging!
